DEED - from the Siwanoys to the Trustees of Westchester
This deed from May 27, 1692, transfers a large chunk of what is now the Bronx (close to the modern-day Wakefield and Eastchester area), to the Trustees of Westchester County. One interesting provision of the deed reserves to the Siwanoys the use of white wood trees (tulip trees) in the area. It was recorded with the clerk on March 30 1704.
