Translation

This day, date underwritten, before me, the secretary, appeared Cornelis Groesens, who declared that he had given orders and instructions to Jan Snediger to build on the lot belonging to him, Groesens, situated on the island of Manhatans, for which building Jan Snediger is to advance the money, on condition that in satisfaction of the loan Groesens, on his return here, shall pay the principal which Jan Snediger shall have advanced and proper interest thereof; and in case Snediger be not paid by Groesens, Snediger shall have a lien on the house and lot above mentioned. This day, the 20th of October 1646, in New Netherland.
