Petrus Stuyvesandt, on behalf of their honorable High Mightinesses the lords States General of the United Netherlands and the lords directors of the Chartered West India Company, chamber of Amsterdam, director general of N. Netherland, Curaao, Bonaire, Aruba and the dependencies thereof, together with the honorable lords councilors, has summoned hereto the court messenger, Lodovicus Cobes, greetings.

Whereas Jeronimus Ebbinge has remonstrated to us by petition that he finds himself greatly aggrieved by the judgment handed down by the honorable court of Fort Orange and the village of Beverwijck, dated 14 March, last past, between Philip Pietersen Schuylers deputy Gerrit Swart and Abraham Staats, the deputy of Pieter Hartgers, for reasons detailed in the attached copy of the petition. For which our assistance is requested.[1]

Therefore, we order you to summon the aforesaid Gerrit Swart and Abraham Staats to appear, or to send deputies, before us here at Fort Amsterdam on a designated, suitable day in order to respond to such demands and rejoinders which the petitioner shall make at that time, in addition to his request to be exempt from the intervening costs of his appeal, inviting also those of the aforesaid court to appear, or to send deputies, on the appointed day (if it pleases them) in order to see us annul, correct or confirm the aforesaid judgment. Providing copies on behalf of the parties and relating to us what you encounter.[2]
