Translation

[1]I, Isaac Allerton, hereby acknowledge that I am well and truly indebted to the owners of the frigate La Garge [2] in the sum of three thousand seven hundred and seventy-three guilders, fourteen stivers, the same being for the purchase of sugar, which sum I, Allerton, promise to pay, free of costs and charges, without any objections, in two installments, to wit: one thousand guilders eight days after Allerton shall have returned from the north, and the balance next July, out of which sum above mentioned twenty-five guilders shall be paid to the poor. For the fulfillment hereof, the above mentioned Allerton binds his person and property, movable and immovable, present and future under submission to all lords, courts, tribunals and judges. Done the 18th of January 1645 in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland.
