Translation

[ Before ] me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary of New Netherland, appeared Jan Francen of [ Rotterdam ], who declared that he had sold, as he does hereby, to Jan Jacobsz,[1] who also acknowledges having purchased, a house and plantation situated on the island of Manhatans, for the sum of three hundred and twelve guilders and ten stivers, once, which aforesaid sum he, the purchaser, promises to pay on account to the Company; wherefore the grantor cedes and conveys, as he does hereby, to the aforesaid Jan Jacobsz the house and plantation aforesaid and the appurtenances thereof, to that end relinquishing the ownership of the aforesaid house and plantation. For the performance of what is hereinbefore written the parties bind their persons under obligation as provided by law. Done the 6th of July 1643, in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland.
