Before me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary of New Netherland, appeared Piter Hartkens, who at the request of Augustyn Heerman attests, testifies and declares in place of an oath that he heard Philip Geraerdy say that Augustyn Heerman has asked security for the wines, to which he had given for answer that he would give no security but could easily pay for what he had bought. All of which he offers to confirm, the 22nd of October 1644.
