Translation

I, Ridder Eversen, master of the yacht Real,[1] acknowledge that I received from Oloff Stevensen, commissary of the store, a cask of merchandise, to carry the same to Jan Jansz,[2] commissary at Fort Nassau, which cask he, the skipper, declares he was obliged in a violent storm to throw overboard with many other goods. Done the 3rd of November anno 1643.
