NYSA Summary: "An act for the better settlm't and assureing of lands in this colony." Chapter 216 of the Laws of New York, 1710. This law clarified property rights in the colony of New York, and among other things classified married women in the same category as minors, prisoners, those not of sound mind, and those across the sea in terms of abilities to make claims to land.
