Noble Lords:

Yesterday evening I heard something else refuting the testimony of Schout van Sweringen, which I thought necessary to have confirmed by witnesses this morning and sent off to you.

In addition, Mr. Hendrick Kip relates that on the 20th of this month, before noon, at Fop Janssen's house, he heard Gerrit de Groot, court-messenger in New Amstel, say in the presence of Mr. Factoor and some others, whom he cannot remember, that about one-quarter of an hour after the schout shot the soldier, he looked out of his house and thought that he saw another person near his fence. He then fired another shot but found that it was only the stump of a tree.
