This above promissory note of fifteen hundred guilders has been executed by the honorable director general Petrus Stuyvesant, as his personal debt, to the benefit of Mr. Willeth, and the aforesaid lord general will take the sewant on the expedition to the South River to be used for the service of the Company wherever it shall be needed, whether it be expended as payment for the soldiers, expenses, provisions or gifts to the natives; therefore, it is appended to the note that in case of misfortune (may God forbid) this amount shall accrue to the debt of the Company and be paid from its assets in this country, to which we the undersigned attest.

Ady ut supra. (Was signed:) P. Stuyvesant, Cornelis van Tienhoven, Cornelis van Ruyven. 31 August 1655.
