This painting of a wealthy household in the Netherlands shows the beautiful fabrics, bed drapes, carpets, and embroidered clothing that were readily available in Amsterdam in the 17th Century.    New Amsterdam might have looked far simpler, although some wealthier households would have had at least some of these elements.  For example, the foot stove to warm feet in cold weather was commonly used in New Netherland.
