I, the undersigned, Jacob Loper, captain-lieutenant of the company of the honorable director at Curaçao, acknowledge that I am indebted to Mr. Willem de Key in the sum of one hundred and twenty-five Carolus guilders and nineteen stivers, which sum of ƒ125.19 I promise to pay to the aforesaid de Key, or his order, when he shall have returned with the ship from New Netherland, or, in case of my departure, he is to apply to the honorable directors of the Chartered West India Company, chamber at Amsterdam, for payment of the above. In witness of the truth I have signed this with my own hand. Done at Curaçao, in Fort Amsterdam, this 1st of October 1646. Was signed: Jacob Loper.
