I, Jop Aertsen, skipper,[1] acknowledge that I am indebted to Jan Klasen Damen in the sum of 24 guilders to purchase their clothes[2] with it, [ which sum I ] promise to pay, and to pay at the earliest on the 8th of Janusry 1642. Signed: Jop Arentsen.
