Description

Order. On a letter from the authorities at Fort Orange, respecting an indictment against Frans Gabrielsen, for committing violence on a little girl aged 7 years, authorizing the court there to proceed with the trial according to law, and to put the sentence into execution, unless the prisoner appeal; in that event all the papers in the case are to be sent to the director and council for revision.

Translation

The honorable director-general and councillors having seen and read the letters of the commissary, Johannes Dyckman, and the magistrates residing in Fort Orange and Beverwyck, dated 2 September, together with the information concerning Frans Gabrielsen who molested a young girl about seven years old, authorize those of the aforesaid court to try the case and pass judgment according to the law, and to carry out the sentence there on the guilty party unless he appeals to have the case sent here for review, which shall be done according to the circumstances of the matter.[i]
