Translation

Whereas Jean Paul Jacquet, former commandant on the South River of New Netherland, requests that the accounts of his administration be examined, the commissary Carel van Brugge is hereby ordered to make a beginning on Friday or tomorrow to examine the accounts of the aforesaid Sr. Jean Paul Jacquet and to continue with it until he shall have balanced and liquidated the accounts with him, and to make, in case of dispute, a report thereof to us, the director general and councilors. Dated as above.[i]
