Translation

Received the petition of Hendrick Barentsz Smith, cadet, who remonstrates how he had been promised in the fatherland to serve here no longer than a year and that it has now been over two years that he has served; also, that he had been promised to be discharged after the southern expedition. Therefore he requests that his passport [several lines lost] the petition [ ] as he therefore can [ ] claim his [ ] settlement of accounts. Dated as above.
