Translation

To their honorable lords, the director general and councilors of New Netherland.[i]

Whereas no lands may be laid out and undertaken here without your honors’ approbation and consent, the petitioner addresses himself to your honors for consent to start and establish a village on Long Island on the bay of the North River.
