Petrus Stuyvesandt, on behalf of their honorable High Mightinesses the lords States General of the United Netherlands and the lords directors of the Chartered West India Company, chamber of Amsterdam, director general of N. Netherland, Curaao, Bonaire, Aruba and the dependencies thereof, together with the honorable lords councilors, have summoned hereto the court messenger Claes van Elslant, greetings.

Whereas, Walewijn vander Veen,[1] in his capacity as deputy of Adriaen Blommert, has remonstrated to us by petition that he, in the aforesaid capacity, finds himself greatly injured and aggrieved by the judgment handed down by the magistrates of this city dated the first of October, last past, between him and Michiel Jansz for reasons detailed in the attached copy of the petition. For which reason he requests our assistance.[2]

Therefore, we order you to summon the aforesaid Michiel Jansz to appear, or to send a deputy, before us here in Fort Amsterdam in order to respond to such demands and rejoinders in addition to the appellants petition to be exempt from the indebite interjectie [3] of his appeal which the aforesaid Walewijn vander Veen shall make and effect on the appointed day, inviting the aforesaid magistrates to appear or to send deputies at that time (if it pleases them ) in order to see the judgment annulled or confirmed by us. Providing copies for the parties and relating to us what you encounter.[4]

Issued in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland the 22d of December 1661.
