Before me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary of New Netherland, appeared Claes Jansen Ruyter, who acknowledged that he had purchased the yacht De Vreede for forty whole beavers, which beavers said Claes Jansen promises to pay to the honorable director general of New Netherland within two months from this date. In testimony whereof this is signed the 29th of September A°. 1648, in New Amsterdam.
