Document: Order on an application of Hendrick Jansen for restitution of moneys paid John Hicks for land

Received a petition of the wife of Hendrick Jansz Smith, mainly showing that John Hicx had had the land in question between him and the petitioner measured without her knowledge, and not by virtue of the order of the director general and councilors, and that the bought land could not be delivered to her because it would come too close to the land of Middelborch. Therefore she requests to be allowed to claim the money she paid.

After deliberation it is resolved: The petitioner is ordered to have a copy hereof handed to John Hicx and the sworn surveyor, in order to reply to that within eight days after the allegation was made. Dated as above.
