Document: Notice to Lady Moody and the inhabitants of Gravesend to send in a nomination for magistrates

Whereas, for important and various considerations, no magistrates have been appointed yet for this present year in the village of Gravesande, and presently it has been deemed necessary for the benefit of the country and for the administration of justice that such take place immediately; therefore, it has been resolved that the schout serve a notice on the aforesaid village and Milady Deborach Moedy, as the oldest and first patentee, that she and the inhabitants of Gravesande make nominations of magistrates, according to their patent, as soon as possible, and send the nominations to the council for confirmation of those nominated, and then take the oath of allegiance, and then commissioners shall be appointed to go there to put everything in good order.
