30 September, Monday.

Three persons were brought in, of whom we were informed that they were of the sect named Quakers, which they showed very clearly, coming in without showing the least form of respect, their heads covered. The deputy schout was ordered to take them back across the North River to Gemoenepauw from where they had come. Their request was to be allowed to depart for New England through this place, which, for various reasons they were denied, and they were ordered not to come here again on pain of corporal punishment. The names (as they said) were

Tomas Thorsten Tomas t’ Schapman Josia Cool
