To the honorable highly esteemed lords, director general and high councilors of New Netherland.

With humble reverence Salvador Dandradj, Jewish merchant here in this city, makes known how that he, petitioner, pursuant to the authorization granted to the Jewish nation by the honorable lords directors of the West India Company, chamber at Amsterdam in Holland, to carry on trade and commerce here in this country together with other merchants; for which purpose, since his residence here, he has rented and lived in a house, and finally the same house and lot were sold to him at public auction held by your honors’ secretary on the 14th of this month. As a result he has come into ownership of the same, pursuant to the conditions to which he has purchased the aforesaid house and lot at public auction, as per authentic copy thereof adjoined. And whereas he, petitioner, would like to enjoy his right to the same, and to pay the purchase price stipulated at the respective dates; therefore, he humbly requests that your honors’ be pleased to grant and permit the same to him. Awaiting favorable disposition of the same, he shall remain your honors’ humble servant. (Was signed:) Salvador Dandradj; (dated:) Amsterdam in New Netherland, the 17th of December 1655.[1]
