Document: Application of the fiscal for leave to seize all the real and personal estate of Cornelis van Tienhoven

[several lines lost] To the lord director general and councilors of New Netherland. [ ] Nicasius de Sille, fiscal and protector of the law [ reverently makes known ] how it is that he submitted a petition to your honors on last 18 November and has received nothing other than an oral order to have only the sealed chest of Cornelis van Tienhooven brought to the council chamber; which was done, and until now he has awaited resolution on how he, plaintiff, should proceed further, as he had heard nothing more about it and necessity requires more security of our lords directors’ domains, whereas Tienhooven, aforesaid, has not yet given satisfaction or a complete accounting, receipt and remainder; nor can one understand his flight and possible return, but the plaintiff hears daily that his housewife has large baskets with goods taken out of her house at odd hours, which signals enough to want to proceed more forcefully for the lords’ interests. Thus it is that the plaintiff is turning to your esteemed honors, seeking an answer to the preceding request; in addition, that the petitioner be allowed to [ ] all the moveable and immoveable goods [several lines lost].
