Upon the petition of Hendrick Fredrick Mansvelt, father-in-law of Francoys Fijn, it was resolved to instruct the director and councilors of New Netherland that if there was no significant disadvantage or loss to the Company by giving away Varckens [ Hog ] Island,[1] that Francoys Fijn shall be accommodated therewith, and if they see fit to retain it for the above-stated reasons, then they shall show and give to him other suitable land for cultivation.
