Notes:

Hannah Feake (Bowne) was the first wife of John Bowne, a Quaker well known in New Netherland, who defied Peter Stuyvesant, and argued the case for religious freedom of worship in the Netherlands to return to New Netherland in 1664.   He is associated with the Flushing Remonstrance, a document considered to be the legal first basis for freedom of religion in the United States.

Hannah was a religious leader in her own right, and very likely was the key person to influence John Bowne's conversion to the Quaker religious view.  She was instrumental in the continued Quaker meetings held at their house.
